NEVER BEFORE REVEALED ALTERED POSTCARDS BY SEE DOUBLE PRESS AUTHOR MARY RUEFLE

Mab and I feel very fortunate to be the occasional recipients of vintage postcards that have been altered by their sender, the poet, essayist and erasurist Mary Ruefle.  (For her erasure work, check out her book An Incarnation of the Now at the See Double Press website.)

In these postcards, Mary plays with text and image—reconstitutes them with ease—by the simple device of slapping a new caption onto a visual scene where it seems to have always belonged.   So sweetly subtle and strange.  If one image is worth ten thousand words, the right image and brief text combined is worth a billion words.  Enjoy!
